It is true that The Health Adventure, Colburn Earth & Science Museum & Nature Center all offer exceptional indoor opportunities for children. What sets the Nature Center apart is incredible hands-on outdoor adventures as well.

Otter at WNC Nature Center

You can explore natural animal habitats in a small hike around the Nature Center. Search for the wolves, the bears, fox, raccoons and even a Cougar. The playful otters will keep you laughing as they slide and splash in the water. Check out the petting zoo and enjoy feeding a variety of barn yard animals. The Nature Center also has seasonal exhibits including the Butterfly Exhibition, Hey Day in the Fall, and numerous summer programs for the kids.
Looking for something simple; How about pizza and a movie? The Asheville Pizza Company is one of my kid’s favorite places to go. The $2 movie theater shows children’s movies at 4pm during the week and an additional showing at 1pm during the weekend. There are even couches and comfy chairs with tables for your pizza or burger, which you can order while you watch the movie.

There is also a large game room for families. Grab a table and order dinner. Your kids can play air hockey and an array of video games while you enjoy one of the Asheville Pizza Company’s delicious brewed beers like Ninja Porter. The game room is full of families and is always a treat for the kids.

To think Asheville has all this and still roller skating and bowling! The Asheville Civic Center even has ice skating during the winter months. So get out and enjoy all Asheville has to offer the family.
