postheadericon Lunch Time! Where Should We Eat?

Eating lunch in Downtown Asheville is a great experience. There are numerous fabulous and healthy options within a few blocks from the center of town. Asheville definitely offers a little something for everyone, but there are a few restaurants in particular that always put a big smile on my face! So next time you are showing friends around town, getting out of the office for a bit, or just enjoying the day, stop by and have a taste for yourself.

Nine Mile - Asheville NCNew to Asheville is Nine Mile on Montford Ave. This vegetarian-friendly spicy Jamaican Pasta spot is out of this world. From their famous Jerk Chicken dishes to the Negril Nights, served with seared Ahi, not to mention their variety of daily specials, its easy to find delicious flavors reminiscent of the islands. You’ll find something for everyone on Nine Mile’s Lunch Menu.

This is the perfect place to eat on your lunch break, easy in and out in an hour or less from downtown, and it’s a classy place suitable for entertaining friends or out of town guests. Nine Mile also features a variety of locally brewed beers on tap; stop in and enjoy a new treat; I may just see you there.
If Rasta Pasta doesn’t suit your palate today how about some amazing Mexican cuisine at Mamacitas? Another locally owned and operated hot spot, Mamacitas is a hit with everyone. Satisfy the kids or even the pickiest in your office with many menu options from the Veggie Mama and Steak Burrito to classic Fish Tacos and homemade queso. Mamacitas is located on the south side of downtown, and is always a quick easy place for an awesome lunch. Tell them we sent you!

Ok, no more holding back, here is this month’s crown jewel. Mela, on Lexington offers an Indian Lunch Buffet that will keep you coming back for more. Enjoy authentic North and South Indian cuisine, such as their Tandoori Chicken Salad, Palak Pakoras, & Chowpatti Ragada. Unbelievable options, great service, and elegant atmosphere put Mela on my once a week lunch list. If you haven’t tried them yet, don’t wait, I promise you will not be disappointed.

I realize that this list just scratches the surface of what Asheville has to offer. Check back soon as I will be posting more restaurant reviews and local favorites often. For now, give these a try and let me know what you think. Those of you with lunch recommendations please share with the rest of us.
