Mark de Castrique to speak at library

Author Mark de Castrique, creator of the Barry Clayton mystery series, will speak at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Etowah library at 101 Brickyard Road.

The series is set in Western North Carolina. A native of Hendersonville, de Castrique says when he was born, he went straight from the hospital to the funeral home, where his father was the funeral director and the family lived upstairs.

The unusual setting sparked his popular Barry Clayton series and launched his mystery-writing career. His newest fiction work is “A Murder in Passing: A Sam Blackman Mystery.”

The event, sponsored by Friends of the Library, is free and open to the public.
