The Asheville Arts Center will be turning 5 years old and is celebrating by throwing not one, but TWO parties.
The Friday evening party will be held at the South location on Summit Avenue (off of Hendersonville Road before Long Shoal’s Rd). The Saturday party will take place at the Main location on Merrimon Avenue. Adults and children can enjoy food, fun and festivities. Teachers, students, program directors and families have the opportunity to connect with each other and AAC performers in person. Both events are free!
The South and Main parties will be fun for the whole family, a perfect way to spend time together. The Asheville Arts Center works with students of all ages, as well as local music, dance and theater performers. The festivities will celebrate 5 years of success and the people involved in keeping the performing arts alive in Asheville. Adults and children can learn about upcoming music, dance and drama programs, <http://www.ashevilleartscenter.com/classes.cfm> including community theater opportunities. Prospective students can also register for fall classes, which begin August 17th.
Congratulations to the Asheville Arts Center on 5 years of helping Asheville grow in the arts. Read the full press release here .

This talented Asheville father, inspired by his daughter has created positive hiphop music for kids with a sound that’s all grown up. After touring in a hiphop band for over ten years, Agent 23 has transformed his lyrical genius and original sound into Asheville’s favorite family funk.
At the recent one year anniversary show all of Asheville came out for a gloriously grand time at the Grey Eagle. Check out the MountainXpress slideshow. Family and friends joined Secret Agent 23 Skidoo for some booty shaking that captivates a child’s imagination with a beat that even babies move to.
From Hot Lava, sleepovers and mermaids to The Last Dragon Left On Earth & Luck, there’s something for everyone. 23 Skidoo sends out a positive message with songs like I Gotta Be Me and It’s a New Day. My all time favorite song though is Family Tree in which his daughter Saki raps along with him.
This is a special treat for the entire family. You've got to check it out, the album Easy is 23 Skidoo’s first release and all us fans are eagerly awaiting his next masterpiece.

Asheville has many choices for kid's birthdays. We are lucky as parents, especially those of us who have children born in the winter months and can’t just picnic at a park. Having it at your own house in the winter without the yard to run around in can be a little much! What a relief it is to just arrive somewhere else and then leave without having to entertain guests in your home or clean up after twenty seven year olds!
The Health Adventure has a wonderful package with up to 25 kids and a room decorated with balloons which grants access to all of the Health Adventure including whatever the current exhibit is. They will set you up with a room, and depending on availability you can even have the play area reserved for your party. The central location of Pack Place is also a nice convenience.
