The YWCA will be holding their annual Black & White Gala on Thursday, October 1st, 2009. The event will be held at the Orange Peel at 101 Biltmore Ave. and will begin at 7:00 PM.
This FUN evening will feature silent and live auctions, food from local restaurants, and high energy dance music by Westsound. The mission of the YWCA is eliminating racism and empowering women. Event proceeds will benefit YWCA programs bridging gaps in education, health care, earning power and childcare. Have a blast while helping others! Tickets are only $40/each or two for $75 and are available at www.ywcaofasheville.org or by calling 254-7206 x 206. Festive black and white attire is encouraged.
Gather your extra stuff and sell it off at the huge Parking Lot Flea Market, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2009 in the parking lot of Ecycle Me at 101 South Lexington Avenue in Downtown Asheville, NC.
Sell! Sell! Sell! Buy! Buy! Buy!
10% of the proceeds will go to Asheville GreenWorks. The sale starts at a leisurely 10:30 on a Sunday in downtown Asheville. Very much a social event if you ask me!
If you are serious about being a seller of stuff contact me. The only requirements to sell are a commitment to donating 10% of your profit to Asheville Greenworks and a commitment to carrying your own bank. And of course, you have to tag and bring your stuff.
Larry Keel and Natural Bridge will be performing at the Catawba Valley Brewing Company [map ] in Morganton, NC. Make your plans for Saturday, October 10 2009 from 7:00 - 11:00PM. The price is $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
Connecting traditional songs of yesterday with their own original and inventive sounds of today, Larry Keel & Natural Bridge create astonishingly powerful acoustic music rich in heritage, heart and hot licks! With a style that evokes both atomic rock energy and dynamic tonal purity, Keel and his ensemble are intent upon taking their instruments and their voices to their fullest potential for emotion and amazement. While paying respect to the legacy left by the forefathers of bluegrass, Keel bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary American Mountain Music.
