Curious George: Let's Get Curious
On exhibit through January 25, 2009
More fun than a barrel of monkeys! Letting curiosity and inquiry be their guides, children explore familiar buildings and locales from the Curious George book series and PBS KIDS® television series in Curious George™: Let's Get Curious! With 2,500square feet of fun and meaningful activities, the exhibit will pique visitors’ curiosity and engage children in key math, science, and engineering experiences. Like George, visitors will let inquiry and curiosity be their guides as they explore and experiment with new ideas, challenges, and materials. Exhibit messages will emphasize the critical role parents and caregivers play in supporting children’searly learning. Activities invite children to learn like George - through direct experience and problem solving!
Upon entry to the exhibit, visitors find themselves on an urban street and are transported to the neighborhood in which Curious George lives with his friend, The Man with the Yellow Hat. Children find themselves surrounded by familiar places and faces, while encountering new challenges, materials, and ideas. The show's supporting characters appear throughout the exhibit, helping to provide context, deliver parent and take-home messages, and inject humor.
The primary audience for Curious George™: Let's Get Curious is children ages 3 through 7 and their adult caregivers.

Third Annual RiverSculpture
A Contemporary Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
Reynolds Village Woodfin :: Until - January 5th
Exciting changes are afoot for RiverSculpture. This year the town of Woodfin and Reynolds Mountain will host the exhibition on the spacious grounds of Reynolds Village, the site of the soon-to-be built downtown Woodfin. RiverSculpture is coming into its own, with a record number of submissions from five states, a prominent New York juror and many large scale works. RiverSculpture’s new location is less than 500 feet north of the Asheville city limits and easily accessible from both Rt. 19/23 (Future I-26) and Merrimon Avenue/Rt. 25. The new dates, September 27, 2008 - January 5, 2009, encompass the leaf season as well as the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holidays — allowing all of us to enjoy the sculpture in a full range of natural settings. The exhibition is free and open to the public seven days a week with plenty of parking. The new work, from accomplished sculptors in three states, includes new and returning artists working in a range of traditional and environmental media. In addition, a series of special events during October integrates kids’ art, music, dance and theater with contemporary sculpture. Get ready to be inspired by the biggest and best RiverSculpture ever!
